ICFF 2015 Inspiration

Well, I’m still recovering, after a whirlwind long weekend in NYC.  But, the TBBs and I certainly had a blast.

We spent Sunday at ICFF and here’s some highlights from that visit. Tons of inspiration to be found.  I especially noticed all the woven pieces of furniture this year.  70’s here we go again!

There was still tons of gorgeous wood around, on walls, floors and furniture.

Immersion Design

This amazingly creative design murphy style bunk bed/desk combo was so well thought and executed.  Just so you know, that desk area pulls down to reveal a double bed and the desk area also pulls out to reveal hidden storage and electrical outlets (which you can see a bit of on the left).  Just lovely!

Fabulously detailed sinks and tubs.

The insert on the farmhouse style sink above is inter changeable, brilliant!

And of course, there were tiles!

There was tons more of course, but this gives you an idea of what was there.

Next up, the Kips Bay Show Home – 2015.

PS. I thought I had gotten all the sources, but it appears I’ve missed some. If you know them, I’ll be happy to correct the ones I’ve missed.

And it’s open – Artemano in Ottawa

Artemano’s grand opening last night was a great evening.  Lots of wonderfully dressed people came out to welcome this new store to Ottawa’s design landscape.

Vintage pieces like the door above, mix with the organic.  Btw – I took these pictures about a week before the event so that I got clearer views.

This daybed was a favourite spot to sit and get your photo taken.

This little desks are just the cutest things.

These bell lanterns had me at HELLO! I am seriously bothering the better half to get one installed at the cottage.

This bedroom was my favourite space, from the textured, stacked wood wall, to the moody blue/gray walls, to the Leonard Cohen quote (which coincidentally I had on my website for many years), to the huge and glamourous mirror, to the dramatic basket lights, and finally to that BED!

It was a great evening, filled with fabulous wine, great food, wonderful live music, and lots of very thrilled Ottawans to have another great furniture store in the Capital.  Thanks to all who attended!

Artemano’s Grand Opening in Ottawa

_B7W2828

I’m so excited to be co-hosting Artemano‘s Grand Opening at the Trainyards in Ottawa, on Wednesday, November 19th between 5 – 9 pm.

This Canadian company has the most amazing wood furniture and now we don’t have to travel to Montreal or Toronto to see it.

Just take a peek at some of the deliciousness Ottawans are in for.

Euro Tile Grand Opening

Last evening, some of the TBBs and I were fortunate enough to attend Euro Tile’s Grand Opening.

Delicious food, beautiful people, sparkling wine and lots of absolutely stunning tiles, what a lovely evening!

I took some pictures of the tiles that really inspired me and I’m more than happy to share.

I thought this patchwork style quilt effect tile was stunning in blue and so very elegant in the soft grey below.

These thin sliced mosaics were another favourite.

This floor tile actually made us all stop and gasp when we saw it.  The brass inlay would patina over time and just get more and more beautiful.  This is now my “I want” floor tile.

We’ve been seeing 3D tiles but how about 3D and embossed?

photo 5

This mosaic shows more of patchwork style tile, that we are seeing.

And who could resist a large scale marble basket weave?

I was so disappointed that this last photo came out blurry, probably due to me trying to juggle my glass of champagne and the phone…..sigh…but I will include it as it was a whole entire wall of inspiration.  It really doesn’t do it justice, you’ll just have to go in and see it for yourselves.  Free flowing forms and glass, marble, stone inlays done with such a creative hand.  Truly one of a kind masterpieces…really whatever you can dream up, it appears it can be reproduced in tile, to grace your floors or walls or both!

Glass railings and weddings…oh my

Happy Friday Everyone! I’m sorry for the lack of posts here, but with trying to get some client work completed, getting the cottage ready for a wedding, and being saddled with a bad cold, not to mention a shortened work week, it’s been a little crazy.

My hubby did manage to complete the new glass railing at the cottage and it looks as good as I thought it would 🙂

We had a great long weekend at the cottage with all the family and I was thrilled to see that my article that I shared here online, was printed up in the Ottawa Citizen on Saturday.  So fun to see my powder room in print!

And the tent went up this week for the wedding being held here tomorrow. So exciting, we will be checking it out tomorrow to see how it’s all been set up, since two of my children are talking about perhaps getting married here as well 🙂

Have a great weekend everyone! I’ll be back on Monday to share some of my recent mood boards.
