And for some other exciting news, I was one of the Ottawa area decorators/designers mentioned in an Ottawa Citizen Style article on how to deck your halls.

Silver and white holiday urn

This year I was feeling the sparkly and white decor, especially after I found this great wreath at Home Sense.

Naturally rustic holiday exterior

I have started my exterior decorating…yay!  I went with my usual at the cottage, just need some snow there..(did I just say that out loud?) to complete the look there.  You can also see my newly painted green doors and a little hint of the yellow window trim.  I really needed somethings to be in colour as there is just only so much wood a girl can take.

Exterior fall displays – for City and Country

Continuing with my fall decor theme this past week. Here’s my exterior fall urn for my city home.  The practical side of me likes to reuse my faux foliage from year to year.  So I just switch it up with some natural pieces, i.e. the birch branches, pinecones and pumpkins.  Easy as pie…apple pie, that is….

Just like my home, I also reuse faux pieces for the cottage.  The leaves and chinese lanterns are all faux.  I love to cut some of my hydrangea blooms and place them within the arrangement. They dry nicely there and if in a sheltered spot can last for the season.

My glass lantern gets a refresh with some more cut hydrangea blossoms and pinecones.

I use a vintage crate to raise it up and added some more birch branches at the front for interest.

Fall displays 1, 2, 3

It has been a bit of a Fall decor extravaganza around here, as I put away all the seashells, rocks and other summer decor….onto fall we go.

1. First off, I started with my home’s front interior entrance.

A bunch of pretty faux flowers, some pinecones and decorative gemstones to hide the stems, add in a few mini pumpkins and VOILA…done.  After I finished I realized how great my new purse, that I purchased in Toronto, would work with the colours, so….in it went.

2. Then I moved onto the kitchen and placed  some of those adorable little white and orange pumpkins (just bought at the grocery store) into a wood dish that I already had.  This takes about three seconds to do and another bonus with these little pumpkins is that you don’t have to store them at the end of the season :-).

3. Then moving on to my cottage, here’s my Thanksgiving table centerpiece.

So easy to do, a burlap runner, large wicker tray, faux fall leaf garland, twig ball, pinecones and mini pumpkins.  Then just let your creativity loose.

Later this week, exterior fall displays and….. where did I put my Blogpodium winnings?
