Mid-week musings

Since it is the end of summer and September is the real start to a New Year, I thought I’d catch everyone up on what’s happening.

It’s back to school for only one of mine this week, two have graduated and are in their careers and one is taking some time off from school to figure out what he’d like to pursue.  I’ve always envied people who knew from a very young age what they wanted to do, so much easier on yourself.

Two of my children have moved out this summer into their own places, I’m still a little traumatized but we do raise them to stand on their own two feet.  I’m just thankful that we are all still in the same city.  It certainly is a different experience buying groceries and cooking for three instead of the usual six or more.

If you’ve been reading my blog posts lately, you know that I’ve been busy with the exterior of my country log home, choosing stains, paint and chink (in case you don’t know that is the caulk like stuff that goes between logs) colours and getting organized for the said stainers/painters/chinkers to accomplish the task.  It’s great to get down there each weekend and see the progress and I’m so thankful that we have help with this part, we were getting pretty exhausted doing all this ourselves. Next up, some bathroom and sunroom floor repairs and then hopefully onto some kitchen redesign.

Work wise, has been busy as well, with everyone getting ready to nest for the winter.  Lots of floor plans being drawn up, paint colour selections and sourcing for furniture, accessories and wallpaper.

I’m off with some of the TBBs to Blogpodium in a few weeks and we are all getting very excited about the line up of speakers and did I mention that Sarah Richardson is the Guest Speaker. How great is that.  Click on the logo above to find out more.

Vacation time

This will be my last post for awhile as I’m off to the cottage for a couple of weeks, and there is limited internet there.  I’ve been trying to update all my past posts so please be patient while I slowly but surely get them up to snuff, so frankly a little tired of blogging right now and looking forward to the break.

We will still be posting over at The TBBs, Wine, Dine and Design, so be sure to check it out and follow us 6 gals along! We will certainly keep you entertained.

Have a great couple of weeks and enjoy the summer!

The TBBs and the Pontiac

Today I am over at the TBBs – Wine, Dine and Design.

I’m recounting our recent fabulous TBB weekend in the Pontiac at my cottage.  Click on the image below to check it out.

Wine, Dine and Design…by The TBBs

I am not sure if all my readers know or not, but I also regularly post on The TBBS… Wine, Dine and Design, as I’m one of The TBBs.  The TBBs are six Ottawa area decorators that decided to start a local blog that talks all about wining…no…not whining :), dining and designing.  We all take turns posting and share our hints, tips and finds with our readers.

On Mondays, we post about dining, it can be a restaurant that we have recently visited, a great recipe that one of us loves or really anything to do with food.  Wednesdays, we allocate to design, which could be a design lesson, a design find or a great design shop that we have visited or found out about.  On Fridays, we share a Friday night wine pick and/or a wine related topic.

So when one of my posts are up I will be linking to it, right here. You can click here and here for a couple of my recent posts.  Of course, you are always welcome to visit us and learn about all six of us, take a look around by clicking on the TBB logo on my sidebar or on the logo below.  We’d love to have you!

Housekeeping and a link

I’m a little distracted lately as I have some major housekeeping to do since moving from Blogger to WordPress. If you have been reading some of my older posts, you may have noticed that some of the links are not working.  I am slowly fixing them all, which takes an incredible amount of time, so be patient they will get sorted out.

Today I’m posting about some adorable kitchen sculptures called Out of the Bowl (click on the image below to read), over at Wine, Dine & Design.
