One Room Challenge – Guest Participant – Sewing/Craft room – Week 1

Hi everyone, well this year I’ve decided to join in on all the fun of the One Room Challenge (ORC).  In case, you don’t know what the One Room Challenge is, here’s the details.  It is a genius idea started a few years ago by Linda at Calling It Home. Bloggers link up and share their one room transformations that they are attempting to do in a mere six weeks. You can follow everyone along as they share their inspirations, challenges and of course, the results, by clicking on the logo below.

So here’s the room that I will be transforming in six weeks. Drum roll please…..

Ain’t she pretty….NOT. Yeah, it’s a little embarrassing but I’m hoping that everyone reading this has a room just like this. The room that becomes the place to put everything we’ve yet to find homes for.

This space, up until a few years ago was my daughter’s room and back then it was very pretty and tidy. Once she moved out, we left her furniture in here, until she bought her house last year.  So once the furniture was gone, we put in some second hand office furniture, that I plan to incorporate into my sewing/craft room. Skip forward to this past December, when I repainted 90% of the house, except for a few rooms, this obviously being one of them, and ALL the extras came to live here.

Anyways, I figured this would be a great way to get me to actually finish this room.

WHAT’S STAYING AND WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE

  • I’ll be keeping the orangey wood toned tables and shelf but they may get a little love in some form or another
  • the carpet is also staying
  • the room will be painted a fun but soft colour
  • the baseboards are going to have to be either repaired or replaced (courtesy of my daughter’s bunny)
  • lighting definitely has to be addressed
  • storage, storage, storage and more storage for fabric and craft supplies
  • window treatments of some sort

INSPIRATION

My inspiration is this fabric, which I’m hoping to use as drapery.

So it’ll be colourful, but yet calm and pretty eclectic. I’ll be posting as things progress, so you can also follow me along on Instagram.

Again, you can click on these links for the featured participants here and my other guest challenge participants here, to see what they are up to.  Until next week…….
