Country log home living room

This log home was stuck in the 1980’s, with it’s floral chintz draperies and furnishings. We gave it a fresh new feel by removing the drapery treatments, having the sofa and love seat redone with white slipcovers, reupholstering the swivel chairs in blue and white, new window seats, a textured area rug and a few touches of turquoise.

Colourful and feminine home office

This former living room was transformed into a cosy home office for my client. We wanted it to be pretty, elegant and comfortable. I think we succeeded in all three goals.  A cosy chair and a half is great for clients or my clients’ children, when they stop by for a chat.  A feminine colour scheme of grey, purple, black and white, keeps things modern but still pretty.

Warm beachy living and dining room

Classic, warm and beachy, these were the adjectives my client used when describing to me how she wanted her home’s living room/dining room and kitchen to feel. She also wanted to have lots of storage in all three rooms. And we achieved just that. Here’s some photos I took to showcase just how great the transformation turned out.

Carpeting was taken out and new medium toned hardwood floors were installed in both rooms. If you want your hardwood floors to be timeless a mid-toned brown is the perfect solution.

Blue and white log home sunroom

This log home sunroom was dated and sombre. We spruced it up with a new wicker sofa, chairs and ottoman in weatherproof fabrics and a fun scripted area rug. An antique table was refinished to match and cosy new wicker dining chairs allow easy dining and many late night card games.

Colourful turquoise and yellow living room and entry

This living room and entry were just waiting for some fun colours, a bit more furniture and the beautiful custom drapery.  The beautiful turquoise floral drapery softened the room and brings your eye right to the back of the space. The sofa actually originally had a lounge seat on one end, but to allow space for an additional armchair, we had it removed. Our upholsterer worked his magic and adjusted the seat cushion for a brand new sofa.  A round, clear glass coffee table helps to keep the room feel open and allow for traffic to flow through.  Pretty artwork, some graphic wallpaper, several throw pillows and accessories finish this colourful space.

Modern classic family room

This was a quick refreshing makeover for a tired family room. A new custom made down filled sofa, blue velvet tufted armchairs, new neutral area rug, a clean lined coffee table, an industrial style floor lamp and a few accessories spruced it right up. It feels modern and classic now.

One Room Challenge – Sewing/craft room transformation

This one time bedroom was transformed within 6 weeks during the One room challenge – Spring 2017. Done on a tight budget it was made into a cheery and bright space to sew, craft and dream. The drapery fabric was chosen specifically to bring the existing tables into the colour scheme.

Fireplace transformation from wood burning to gas

This original wood burning fireplace had a raised marble hearth and surround together with a faux finished green marble mantel, it felt busy and dominated the room.  My clients wanted a gas insert for ease as well as a cleaner, more modern silhouette that would fit the scale of the room better.  A flush slate hearth helps to make the room more spacious and ties in with the slate floor in the entry.  The smaller brick slate surround resembles subway tile and keeps the look contemporary. The simple wood mantel was custom made and finished to match the wood floors.  Adding two new sconces completes the look and repeats the black finish of the gas insert.
