Sharing 10 bits of wisdom from Blogpodium

Now ┬áthat I’ve digested some of the wisdom imparted upon me at Blogpodium, I thought I’d share the 10 bits of wisdom that I came away with from Sarah Richardson‘s keynote talk.

Design, Create, Empower, Educate, Inspire

Words that every designer should embrace and endeavour to achieve.

Sarah’s key points that spoke to me were –

1. Make it last

2. Create your own signature style. Your point of view/perspective is unique and make sure and celebrate it.

3. Design memorable spaces

4. Make a statement

5. Draw your inspiration from creative and original pieces

6. Infuse the space with some history and soul by using antiques or sentimental pieces

7. Incorporate spirit, textures and whimsey in your rooms. Don’t take yourself or the room too seriously.

8. Experiment, explore and adapt. As designers and decorators know,  Plan B often works out better than Plan A.

9. Your brand is everything and absolutely critical to your success.

10. “Good design is forever.” Zelda Brunschwig

So now that you’re inspired….go create!

  1. I love how Sarah does a space – just gorgeous! Thanks for posting her tips, truly inspiring!

  2. Love the quote – Good design is forever. It helps to remind me that while trends are great, you have to choose what you really love.

Thanks for the great recap! I’m so jealous of you ladies who went to BlogPodium!

    • That quote is so true, I always encourage my clients to decorate with what they love, not what the trends are. That way you’ll still love it in 5, 10, 15+ years from now. If you get the chance to go to Blogpodium, as I’m sure you already know, I’d definitely recommend it.
